Men at Work Station205

When the traffic management company Men at Work moved their Auckland office to Station205 in 2021, they were looking for something more than just a typical industrial site.

‘Finding the right industrial space can be challenging’ says Tim Richards, Men at Work’s Auckland General Manager. ‘They might work functionally, but they don’t always have a welcoming space for employees and clients. We really like the mix of it here – it’s a working environment with a nice corporate feel.’

With five branches around the country, Men at Work provide traffic management services for civil works projects – ‘Anything that impacts road services,’ says Tim. Penrose is the perfect Auckland location for the team, as a lot of their clients work in the same area. ‘Some of our major clients, such as Downers, are just down the road and so are a lot of suppliers and contracting companies, which makes things easy.’

The site is equally convenient for staff. ‘Penrose is easy to get to, and several of us live within an easy commute,’ says Tim. ‘It makes life easier when we have everything in the same area – home, work and all those other services staff need to access.’

Men at Work’s facility at Station205 include a boardroom, kitchen and modern open-plan offices over two-levels, a 520 sqm shed for vehicles and equipment, and parking directly outside.

‘The two driveways work well for us,’ Tim says. ‘There’s a nice front entry that makes the business look good and clients feel comfortable, which builds our brand.’

Men at Work have built good relationships with the contractors who service the building, too. ‘When we needed a TV mount change, Cody sorted it for us right away. The CEO and property manager Andrew Nixon has been very good, very responsive, and nothing is ever a problem. The people are equally as a strong an asset to Station205 as the buildings.’

For Tim and Men at Work, the only way is up. ’This area is consistently getting better and better,’ he says. ‘There are good cafes going in, and every business you need is only five or ten minutes away.’
